A proposal to name a Brooklyn street corner after the Notorious B.I.G. has hit a road block.
LeRoy McCarthy recently launched a campaign to co-name the corner of St. James Place and Fulton Street "Christopher Wallace Way" in honor of the late rapper.
According to DNAInfo.com, the subject came up at a Brooklyn community board meeting this week and was met with stiff resistance. Apparently, board member Lucy Koteen looked in to Biggie's history prior to the meeting and learned that he sold drugs, dropped out of school and had a lengthy rap sheet.
She also argued that "physically the man is not exactly a role model for youth." Board member Kenn Lowy also objected to the proposal because of misogynistic lyrics in Biggie's songs.
At the moment the proposal to name the corner after Big is on hold until councilwoman Letitia James issues a letter of support.
